One day during the week of the Olympics in Greece my mom took me and my best friend to the Olympic games.
“Why can’t woman participate in the Olympics?” I asked my mom
“Because running and throwing aren’t for woman.” she replied
“Has any woman ever ran or throw in the Olympics before?””
“Well no, not that I know of.”
“Can kids run in the Olympics? They run all the time.”
“No because they aren’t old enough. Please stop asking all those questions. I’m trying to watch.” my mom said in a stern voice.
“Okay, Okay, I’ll shush.”
“Hey,” I said to my friend Aphrodite “How about when we get home we write to the head people of the Olympics and tell them that there should be an Olympics with all kids, all woman , and all men.”
“Okay.”
I turned to Aphrodite.
“Hey Aphrodite, when we get back to my house do you want to write a letter to the head guy of the Olympics. To tell him that woman should be able to compete in the Olympics.” I told Aphrodite
“Okay.”
I was quiet for the rest of the time and I was thinking about how much fun it would be to be in the Olympics.
When Aphrodite and I got back to my house I got us each a peice of paper. We each wrote our ideas down then gave them to each other to read. Then we wrote the letter. It said:
Dear Zeus,
We were wondering if you can think about letting woman join the olympics. We think they should be able to be in the Olympics because woman don’t have that many celebrations. If woman can’t be in the Olympics then there should be a kids Olympics. Because if woman can’t compete than young girls should be able to.
Sincerely,
Athena, Aphrodite
