ACT 1
Narrator: Gilgamesh makes the strong walled city of Uruk with gold. Nintu makes Enkidu out of clay.
Gilgamesh: I AM GILGAMESH, THE KING OF THE STRONG WALLED CITY OF URUK. I made this city with strong walls to protect the city from danger.
Elders: Oh great Anu, punish Gilgamesh for making us build the walls of Uruk bigger.
Anu: What do you want me to do?
Elders: We want you to punish Gilgamesh for making us build the walls bigger.
Anu: I am quite sure that if Gilgamesh wants to build the walls higher, he knows best!
Ishtar: Father , listen to them; help them! I will not see my young girls lift without lovers!”
Elders: “ We want you to create a man a man even taller then gilgamesh and more powerful! ”
Narrator: Then Nintu creates a stronger man than Gilgamesh. Then Nintu creates Enkidu.
Act Two
Narrator: A hunter see’s Enkidu coming. He runs to his father and says --
Hunter: Father, father! I just saw a big animal!
Father: Son, go to the strong walled city of Uruk and get a priestess.
Narrator: So he went to the strong walled city of Uruk. Gilgamesh sent a priestess to educate Enkidu. When the priestess was done she brought Enkidu back to the strong walled city of Uruk. Enkidu saw Gilgamesh, and Enkidu was filled with rage. Enkidu and Gilgamesh got in a big fight. They were fighting like two bulls. After that Gilgamesh said --
Gilgamesh: You are my friend because you fought with me, and you won. You are stronger than me. Therefore you are my friend.
Narrator: Then Ninsun adopted Enkidu as a son.
Act Three
Gilgamesh: If I am going to die soon I want to make a name for myself so that every person can remember me and what I did.
Enkidu: Wow, I want to do that!
Gilgamesh: Enkidu, we can do that if we just believe in ourselves.
Narrator: So Gilgamesh got some men and went to kill Humbaba! When they got there Hummbaba said....
Humbaba: WHO is in my forest?!
Gilgamesh: It is I, Gilgamesh. I have come to kill you and banish evil from this land.
Narrator: So Gilgamesh kills Humbaba and cuts his head off. And he cut his cedars down.
ACT Four
Narrator: When Gilgamesh got back from killing Humbaba he came back to Uruk. Ishtar asked him a question.
Ishtar: Gilgamesh, marry me!
Gilgamesh: NO! you will turn me into an animal or even kill me like you did all the other loves you have had.
Ishtar: Father, Gilgamesh will not marry me! Father, give me the bull of heaven so I can kill Gilgamesh, and if you don’t I will release the people under the ground!
Anu: But there might be famine if I give it to you.
Ishtar: Father!
Anu: OK, OK, you can have it.
Narrator: When Ishtar took the bull of heaven to the city of Uruk the people fell through holes and Gilgamesh killed the bull and everyone celebrated.
Act five
Narrator: Gilgamesh heard the council say that he would die and then another god said that Enkidu should die instead and they all agreed. Enkidu got very sick.
Gilgamesh: Enkidu, Enkidu don’t die.
Shamash: Enkidu calm down Gilgamesh is weeping for you!
Narrator: Enkidu had a dream that he enters the road of death and never comes out.
Gilgamesh: I call for a day of weeping for Enkidu. (He says crying)
Narrator: Enkidu dies and Gilgamesh tells the crafts people to make a golden statue of Enkidu.
Gilgamesh: I’m afraid of dying Shamash.
Shamash: I can’t help you on that one Gilgamesh.
Narrator: Gilgamesh goes on his journey to find Utanapishtim to get everlasting life.
Act six
Shamash: Gilgamesh build an ark Utanapishtim is going to flood the earth.
Narrator: Utanapishtim flooded the earth and Gilgamesh live though the flood all because Shamash
Gilgamesh: Yahoo, Yippee! I made though the flood that Utanapishtim created. Yahoo, Yippee!
Shamash: Calm down Gilgamesh. Keep going.
Narrator: As you can see Gilgamesh was very exited to make it and he kept going.
Act seven
Narrator: After the flood Gilgamesh showed up at a house after going through tunnels and waters of death to get there and when he gets there he finds out that only gods get that privilege
Fishwife: Murderer! Murderer!
Gilgamesh:I am not a murderer I am the king of the strong walled city of uruk. I am here to see Utanapishtim.
Fishwife: In order to see Utanapishtim you have to cross the waters of death.
Gilgamesh: How can I do that?
Fishwife: Go see the boatman and ask him.
Narrator: Gilgamesh went to the boat-mans place and he wasn’t their. Then about an hour later he showed up.
Gilgamesh: Can you take me across the water of death?
Boatman: Yes, but you need to bring me 120 100 feet long poles.
Narrator: Gilgamesh got the pole and they headed off and got across safely. When they got there Utanapishtim was mad that Gilgamesh survived through the flood.
Gilgamesh: I want to have everlasting life. Can you give me everlasting life?
Utanapishtim: Only gods have that privilege. If you can stay awake for 7 nights and 6 days then you are a god.
Narrator: Unfortunatly he fell asleep and he wasn’t a god. There were 7 loafs of bread by his head for each day he slept.
Act eight
Narrator: On the way back to uruk Utanapishtim told the boat man to let him clean himself. When he got back he went for a swim and found the plant of everlasting life. Then a snake came and ate the plant and wasn’t so worried about dying after all.
