Braking- Heavy braking should ve completed in a straight line or else it could upset the car in the corners and most likly make you spin out. So do heavy braking in staright lines. If you are going to break in a corner press the brakes very lightly and slowly making sure not to upset the car. This is called trail breaking. And can come in handy in certain corners on tracks. Another way to slow a car down is to let off the gas. And let the car roll and feather the throttle when speed is needed threw the corners. This can be good for wide corners or high speed corners. It is what i often use because you lose alot less speed by doindgthis but may also have to go abit wide on the corners. Practice these techniques on different coners to see which one is the best choice for each corner of the track.

Shifting- One suggestion is not to pay to much attention to shifting. If all you do is  worry about is shifting you'll lose concentration and lose control of the car. Here are some tips for shifting.Shift up right when you hit the redline, shift down at about 4-5,000 RPM depending on the car your in. Don't make un-needed shifts because during a shift the transmission is disengaged for a split second, and you may lose a mph or so. If you are going up a hill and you are at the redline, don't shift up, unless it's not that steep, or if you are driving a very powerful car, like a Ferrari F50, McLaren F-1, or Mercedes CLK-GTR. A Z3 will lose speed if you upshift going up a fairly steep hill. If you stay in the same gear, you won't be disengaging the transmission for that split second. As I said before, you may lose a mph or two while you shift, especially on a hill.

That's it for now. My suggestion if your still using a joystick, gamepad or keyboard is to go and by a racing wheel. I used to use all three. Until i got a racing wheel. Since i got my wheel my times have improved alot.
