2003 Veterans Day Ceremony At SAN LEANDRO City Hall

Each year the City of San Leandro and local American Legion Chapters observe November 11 as Veterans Day with a ceremony in front of City Hall. This year, instead of honoring a recently deceased veteran, those from California who have died in the current Iraqi conflict will have their names read and a bell will be rung after each name is mentioned.
Scouts have been asked to supply volunteers to lead Mayor Young, the City Council, and veterans in the Pledge of Allegiance. It is not only for honoring our dead, but also for honoring those veterans from WW II, Korea, and other conflicts who have often sacrificed much so that we can be who we are today.

    Schedule:

7:45 AM Meet with the scouts in front of city hall for practice. Please be in a neat and clean boy scout uniform.

    8:00 AM Ceremony starts.

    9:00 AM Ceremony ends.

Your participation is gratefully accepted by those who served, and often sacrificed, to keep you free. Why not show these men and women that you respect what they did?

Participation in this event is a service to the community and worth an hour towards your annual Boy Scout service commitment. Also, there will be Girl Scouts present, and we do not want them outnumbering us!
