Maude Fletcher was born September 08, 1872 in China maine. On April 23, 1895 she married Rev. Hugh R. Merithew. Hugh died in 1896. Their daughter, Helen, was born December, 20, 1896. Maude married (2) Captain Jeremiah Merithew III, Hugh's brother, on October 06, 1899. Jeremiah was First Mate of the ocean tug C.W.Morse, which dissappeared at sea, in 1916. Their son was Jeremiah Merithew IV. Maude married (3) Rev. George Leonard Hibbard. George died in 1944. Maude died in 1962.
Helen Merithew married Ralph O. Sprague . They had 2 children, a son and a daughter. Their daughter, Elizabeth, only lived a week. Helen died in 1946. Ralph died in 1976. They are buried behind the Baptist Church in St. George Maine. Ralph is a descendent of William Sprague who, in the early 1600's, came to Salem Ma. with his brothers Richard and Ralph.
Jeremiah Merithew IV never married or had any children.
Helen and Ralphs son married and had 6 children.
Maude was able to know all 6 of her great-grandchildren and we all have fond memories of a great woman. |
