Richard's
Virago Page
I have been riding motorcycles on the street for 17 years. I got my first street bike on my 18th birthday and I have had one ever since.

I have had this bike for about 16 years.

This bike is now broken and does not run due to a mechanic working on it, and refusing to fix it.

I have parted this bike out.

Thank You Virago Owners
I AM THROUGH.
There is nothing left of my bike for sale.

The only thing left is the gas and oil that I drained out of it, and the licence plate.

I am still getting requests for parts that I do not have, so I was thinking that maybe this page is getting some traffic and that is why I am getting E-Mails for parts.

Today is May 16, 2002 and I am updating this page.
All advertising about selling parts to this bike was done through the Virago Owners Web Site. The responses were overwhelming, and effective. www.viragoownersclub.org

This was my favorite motorcycle I have ever had. Due to the actions of a careless mechanic, it has been like losing a loved one. She will be missed.

But, thanks to Owners like you, she can live again. Her parts, I'm sure, will live on forever, enjoy them. She would have wanted it this way.
REPAIR MANUALS
I recieved more requests for Manuals, then any other parts. I have found a couple places to find them.
Dennis Kirk & J.C. Whitney.
I will add links and part #`s later.
All parts were shipped from my home in:

This is a picture of my new bike. It is a 2001 Yamaha Roadstar 1602cc.
I bought this bike 6 months after the Virago went down. I couldn't stand not having a running scooter in the garage. Honestly, I liked the Virago better, when she was running...

Why Am I Parting Out This Bike ?
When I would hit the starter button, the starter would turn free and not turn the motor.

I took the starter out and had it tested. The starter was fine, it was the gears inside that came undone. I took it to a small shop here in Clovis CA. and asked the mechanic to repair it.

He repaired the starter clutch, but in the process changed the timing of the motor. When he started the bike to test it, the timing was so far off that the piston came up and broke an exhaust valve.

He called me on my cell phone and told me that the starter was fixed, but the valve was broken. It would cost $500 to fix the valve, do you want me to get started?

I told him that you broke it, you fix it. I rode it there, I will ride it home. He refused to fix it.

As it turns out, I paid him for his services, towed it home and sued him in Small Claims Court, and won $1,000. He appealed the case, and he won. I am out everything, including use of my bike.
Read the story at this link...

I had this bike sold for $900 the day I took it to the mechanic. I told the guy that I don't feel right selling the bike to him with a broken starter, let me fix it then come back next weekend with the cash.

He rode it around the block a few times, and loved it.

We had a deal. He didn't want it anymore with a broken valve. I can't blame him.
When Sending Money...

If you want a part sent quickly, please send money orders. If you send a check, my wife will deposit the check in our bank and wait for it to clear before I will send the parts.

If your bank has a branch in Fresno Ca. Go ahead and send a check. I will go to that branch and cash the check and then send the part on the same trip.
