Lesson One: Homework to bring with you on 2/5/01

Goal: To help you improve your ASL expressive skills.

Instructions: For the next class session, bring in pictures of your own family. Be prepared to "introduce" each person in the picture(s) by pointing and using the ASL vocabulary from lesson one. Be sure to practice your alphabet, in case we ask their names!

Possible vocabulary for the assignment:

Father, Mother, sister, brother, baby, children, son, daughter.

Pages 1-18, 1-19, & 1-20 of your work book show all of the vocabulary words for lesson one, also, you have your sign picture dictionary. You may find more words (signs) you want to use for introducing your family.

PEP TALK

Remember to practice all the words you learned in Lesson One. We will be learning a lot of words (signs), and do not want to forget what we have already learned!

Take a little time each day to practice your signs, and you won't have any problems keeping up. If you have any questions, please ask your Buddy Group leader, or Trudy.

In this first lesson we learned how to express questions. Do you remember? Which way do your eyebrows go for a YES/NO question? What about your head, what should it do? If you are asking a WH question, what do you do with your eyebrows, eyes and head? If you can't remember see pages 1-15 (but, try to remember first!).
