We're going to photograf springflowers,

at the Flinders Ranges. 22-9-04 bis 1.10.04.

We are nearly ready.

On the way. The hills are shrouded in clouds,
hopefully it will not rain.

The Lookout near Port Augusta.

The view is beautiful, we can see the Spencer Gulf and York Penisula also
Whyalla, and Port Augusta.

The Flinders Ranges.

Now we get into the "Flinders", there are springflowers,
but not as many as wie have seen in other years.

Those flowers wie shot 1993. There were so many of them, fields and fields full.
Australia is experienceing a terrible drought at the moment.
.

30 years ago there was no road here. The cars have
been stranded in the riverbed and could not get up the encampment.
You will see on the next photo, my Daughter was than only 12 year old.
She is 40 now.

The Cave Paintings.

It is fascinating for me to ponder how old the paintings are. Some are up to 50 000 years old.
It makes me think how short our live really is.

On the way back to the Caravan-Park.

The ruins of an old homestead, and also some graves nearby.
One of it has a german name "Vogelsang" written on it.
The woman died on the way to the Doctor. She only was 37 years old.

It looked like a big rain was on the way. We had to rush to get back to the Caravan Park.
We didn't want to get stuck in the mud in the middle of nowhere.
It rained all night and in the morning there was a little brook running past our caravan.
So we packt up and went home. It is not fun camping in the rain.

Back to our travel!
