SILENT GENERATION |
True Rumor was originally formed in 1984. Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist Steve Meko and Drummer Bobby Lee Moller had both been members of the New York City based Hardcore band "Victims of Society", which had disbanded earlier that year. Steve and Bobby wanted to form a band with a more melodic, straight ahead rock sound. Their first recruit was Bassist Timmy Boyland, who was formerly a member of "The Dispositions" - a band that had shared the same indie-label as V.O.S.. Keyboardist Paul Stanich was soon added, to make the original line-up of True Rumor complete. This line-up released True Rumors Debut LP "Silent Generation" in February 1988 on Catch Em Records. The LP contained the Songs "Midnight Ride", "Without You", "Excessive Ways", "Walkin' From Your Heart", and "Revolving Doors" - Which were recorded at Noise New York Studios in NYC between April and May 1987. The title track "Silent Generation", "Iowa", and "Something More" were recorded during the Summer of 1986 , with Huw Gower (Guitarist with The Records, Graham Parker, and David Johansen) lending production assistance. "Silent Generation" LP Reviews: "Delivering Rock and Roll the Way it Should Be - Full of Spirit, Energy & Conviction" Staten Island Advance "Four Guys Who Rejoice in their Charged Backlash against Everyday Pop" Long Island Ear "True Rumor Avoids the Cliche-Ridden line for topics of lasting interest" East Coast Rocker "Cool! Band displays Wit, Chops, and a Breezy Melodic Command of Good ol' Straightahead Rock-N-Roll" Jersey Beat Keyboardist Paul Stanich left the band in 1988 to persue his interest in Music Production in Nashville. |
