What's new in the World of Nick? |
I'm happy to have finally seen Dan playing. Turns out all his crazy talk isn't completely bull... he's pretty good.
Now the bad news.
First off, I'm not very happy with Delaware Paintball right now. They really ruined my day. I can't blame the owner, mind you (or his big cute dog), but I do blame the guys who were supposed to be running his store. To be fair, one of them did help me to fix my M98, but there was no reffing (except by members of Team Nick and occasionally some lazy guy).
Now to the games!
We lost every time.
Ouch.
But there's more to this story. To my credit, we had Jim, James, Dan, and myself as a group. Then we had several littl'uns playing. Our opponents were seven or eight older, experienced, confident guys with 'mad skillz'. It was nice to be on the team that was losing for a change, as it gave me a (hopefully) unique chance to see why a team loses. It was informative, at least.
Favorite quote (by someone on the 'other' team after beating us twice): "Glad you could make it. We've beaten these guys, like, five times!"
I had to giggle... it was us four Team Nick guys and a buncha' littl'uns. Calm down there, buddy. Don't get too proud. And it was only two games.
In other news, I got some big cheers when it became a game of five versus The Nick. Quick shooting got me some appreciation, but poor field maintenance led to my bunker floating off a bit, revealing my legs. I did get one guy out, though. Hurrah for me. Regardless of field conditions, I'd have lost with that many people on me.
Favorite Scene: Looking to me left and seeing
Dan (the guy who had to cover me) with a scowl on his face after yet
again being eliminated because of one of the littl'uns bouts of foolishness.
Really, it usually wasn't his fault... anyway, it was no fun to suddenly
realize you're cover guy is out. That's never good.
I also got lit up by a 9 year old. New Nick Rule: Never say "Oh, he's just a littl'un. He's not going to even try to bunker me."
The one brave little kid, and he's against me.
Anyway, that's about it. No good stories. I did learn a bit about playing, but nothing great to say. Instead, refer to IotW #7 for a little bit more information.
