This site was opened due to some discriminatory practices of Lewisville ISD. The Justice Department sent me letters on 4-29-02 stating they had investigated my complaints. Due to the fact that the district is now complying with the law and allowing my son to attend therapy sessions during the school day, the Justice Departmentclosed their investigation. In other words, I was right and we won our fight against LISD.
At least in my case, LISD has chosen to comply with the law and has not further discriminated against my son or my family. A true testament of what can happen when you do not back down! I closed this website because it became apparent that many people are cowards and do not concern themselves with things that do not affect them directly. Many people that were affected chose to sit back and wait to see what happened with my family's situation before they stood up and said anything. Many of these people stated they supported me but did not want me to reveal who they are out of "fear of the school district". However, when I asked them what they feared, none of them had an answer.
All of this brings up some questions every parent should ask themselves: 1) Do you really want to have your child in a school district where you fear them? 2) Are these fears rational, intelligible, and explainable, or are they just a result of unreasonable and unjustifiable paranoia? 3) If a system is not working, should it not be changed?, and 4) Who will be singled out next, and what for? Will it be someone's appearance, their religious beliefs, their economic situation, where they live, where they work?.
Where exactly should the line be drawn? Maybe fear itself should be enough to stand up for what is right and for our freedoms! It is sad and unfortunate that many people are "gutless wonders" and choose to just be one of the sheep following the heard, even if the heard leads them off of the proverbial "cliff".
I do salute and appreciate the support I recieved from the few individuals who had the nerve and intestinal fortitude to stand up for what is right. Those of you who did stand up know who you are. Those of you who chose to be cowards also know who you are. This website received almost 8,000 hits in the 11 month period it was on line. Impressive for a free, non-advertised web site. This site will be gone for now as it has served it's purpose and has become very time consuming. However, it will be seen again if it is apparent it is needed
