This is just a little love letter-
I know I'm a terrible updater, and my stories are mostly one-parters, over almost before they begin, but to everyone who has read them and to those who took the time to send me feeback, thank you, thank you! It has meant so much to me.
I wrote these fics for myself. Blame it on wallowing in music or eating pizza late at night, I find myself in a strange mood and start writing... My first fic, When the Night Has Come, began in a blur of U2's The Wanderer and a dirty funk, where I couldn't find a fic suitably dark and tortured so I wrote my own. Since then, I've written one-parters such as Everything But... and Nine Times Out of Ten for the monthly challenge out of a penchant for twisting the guidelines, and I've written one-parters like Laundry and Two Thousand Miles because a line of a song has struck me, so I'll weave words around that lingering image, trying to hold onto the feeling it evoked.
Then there's Bringing Down the House which started on a sunny day as a rambling, idiosyncratic saga, a semi-ode to 80's movies like St Elmo's Fire and which is still continuing (cue sheepishness). This story encapsulates why I write- it's the printable version of the episodes/movie in my mind, with the scenes and situations I want to watch... although the soundtrack plays on my stereo only. And I owe a ton of thanks to those who have stuck with Bringing for such a long time- you've made me grin more times than I can count, and no one can do without that!
This is a weird and wonderful world of fan fiction
and I guess what I really want to say here is thank you for being so welcoming
and sharing it all with me. It's a great ride when you have such
good company. So this is to the authors who keep me up at night reading,
to everyone at PoTL, the Hussy, Bean, Mia, Rinny and Dannie, and y'all
on the old Bringing thread who remind me that it ain't done with yet- for
me, you make it everything it is. And thanks for the nominations!
