At the age of 10, Millie's parents died, and she and her younger sister and brother were sent to live with an older brother in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She moved from saloon to sporting house in various parts of the central plains until she settled in Torrington. Over time, she became one of Logan's top girls and was offered a hefty wage increase for a tight contract. Due to the conditions of her job, Millie became pregnant and was thus fired from the saloon where she worked. With the help of the riders, she got the job of cook for the Spring Ranch station.
