CROCK POT SPAGHETTI SAUCE
Makes 4-6 servings.
Today I added some mild Italian sausage to the pot! Feel free to experiment!
Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 1 28-oz can diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 8-oz can tomato sauce
  • 1 12-oz can tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth (Campbell's makes a good one.)
  • 2 Tbs. fresh parsley or cilantro (or to taste)
  • 1 Tbs brown sugar (Hint: keep your brown sugar fresh by adding a slice of bread to the bag!
  • 1 tsp dried oregano leaves
  • 1 tsp dried basil leaves
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 mushrooms, sliced (if you like mushrooms!)

Brown meat and onion in frying pan; drain off fat; transfer to crock pot. Add remaining ingredients except the mushrooms. Also, be sure to drain the diced tomatoes or your sauce will be watery. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. During the last 30 minutes of cooking time, add the mushrooms. Serve sauce over hot spaghetti. Can be made ahead and frozen.
