Latest additions to my surroundings!
I guess I am taking the old statement, "A mans home is his castle"  a little too literal? This is a handcarved, solid mahogany church mirror. Its not terribly old, but is quite breathtaking. (click on pics to enlarge).
This was something that came together in several different stores. The only piece that was gold, was the mirror itself, the rest I matched and added to fill the space that was open. It looks really cool when the candles are lit!
I bought the mirror in Ohio last July, and never knew quite what to do with it. Last night at the auction, as I looked at the marble topped stand it dawned on me. I dont like the arrangement and it will be going soon! I may put a silverplated brush, handheld mirror and comb on this....still thinking it thru....
I have 1/2 round windows in the kitchen over the sink and in the master over the dresser, and they are so hard to find something to cover them with. While wandering about and shopping hard, I was able to cover them in stained glass. It adds so much color to the room, and shelters the early morning light. I just wish we had a clear day to see what they really look like! The bedroon window is on left, and the kitchen on the right.!
This is the mahogany Cheval mirror, it is solid handcarved mahogany, with beveled mirror. I included a picture of the "end" of the master suite....Its look quite plush I think! You tell me, have I gone overboard?
Here are two of many many prints I have added to the house....click to enlarge!
Well, there is one of the latest additions. This is an eastlake dresser. The deal that I got on it makes it well worth the time it will take to strip off the paint and get down to the wood once again. The Eastlake Dressers are usually highly grain patterned and very lovely once you can see the grain again. 2 weeks and I should have a real picture of it.
