Darren met Daniel through a want ad in the paper. Daniel's band needed a singer. Darren says he came in and sang his part...pretty badly. "I sang it about three keys higher and my voice split. But I think out of sheer bravery, I got the job," he told Rosie O'Donnell when he appeared on her show in November 1999. Later, he and Daniel split from the band Red Edge and formed their own. The name Savage Garden comes form one of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and, as they say, the rest was history.
The recent split of Savage Garden has allowed Darren to focus full time on his solo career. His debut album, entitled Spin, is due to release on March 19, 2002.
