This religion started by a woman named Mary Baker Eddy. You may know this as the ‘Religion that refuses medical treatment’. They don’t believe in Hell or the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, or Jesus Christ for that matter. So don’t let the ‘Christian’ in Christian Science fool you.
Members have been charged in the past with Manslaughter, Murder, and Child Abuse for refusing medical treatment for their children; instead choosing prayer to heal their afflictions and injuries.
You may have seen a Christian Science Meeting Room in a city near you. This is where practitioners read Christian Science books, newspapers, and the Bible. I have one in my city but for the past ten years since I’ve seen it, but I have never once seen it open, although they still pay rent and for the first time, in the history of me driving by countless times, I saw someone leaving locking up the place…at 2 PM the other day.
Mary Baker, the founder, was born in 1821. Her early life was marked with illnesses. After her husband’s death at the age of 22, she became a severely highly emotional unstable invalid who started to use morphine to treat herself.
Ten years later she married again, but that ended in divorce. Her third marriage, at age 56, to Asa Eddy, ended when she contested his autopsy report. The physician she chose to run the new autopsy was Dr. C. J. Eastman, who had no medical credentials and was running an abortion mill. She accused her former students of mentally poisoning her late husband with mesmerism in the form of arsenic. This would and still does present a black eye for the False Prophet known as Mary Eddy Baker.
So, in 1862, she met Dr. Phineas Parkhurst Quimby who had a system of mental healing and was using the term ‘Christian Science’ for his treatments. Later after his death, Eddy stole his methods and his name for them. But, upon meeting him, she committed herself to his care for ‘spinal inflammation’. After her treatments, she busied herself with plagiarizing Dr. Quimby’s manuscripts. She would soon after copy others works word for word, claiming them to be her own and her own scientific studies.
In a book titled ‘Christ and Christmas’ appear several pictures and captions of Eddy and Jesus Christ, in which Eddy is presented on the same, and even higher spiritual level than Christ himself. This is not to be argued with since I am sure Jesus was a con artist and a plagiarized and stole his philosophies…err…not.
So, how did Christian Science start, when will I get to the point, when will Democrats start telling the truth instead of playing Partisan Politics? Well, to answer your questions, I’m getting to the point in the next paragraph, Democrats won’t start telling the truth, and Christian Science started …
…on February 1st, 1866 Mary Baker Eddy fell on the sidewalk and was given three days to live by the attending physician. On the third day, she read Matthew 9:2 and instantly was cured! One problem. The attending physician, Dr. Alvin M. Cushing, denied under oath that he ever believed her to be hurt. He also stated that he treated her with medicine four times till the end of the year. Eddy contradicted herself with her alleged miracle and injury when talking to different people. Sounds so much like Jesus…no, not really.
So, the Honorable Ms. Eddy moved after her students revolted, and settled in Boston. She taught 4,000 students for 300 bones (dollars) over a period of eight years! That would be astronomical in today’s currency!!! Well, Ms. Eddy knew zip about Biblical History, theology, philosophy, ancient languages, or how to not run a con on some unfortunate soul. Her membership skyrocketed and the dough came flowing in. The ‘faithful’ were ordered to purchase or sell her book, ‘Science and Health’ and her other books, or be excommunicated. Blackmail anyone? So, after one purchased her book ‘Science and health’, you had to buy her updated version which costs 3 dollars, which was still expensive for the time. But, it was well worth it since the updated version had 2 whole new sentences! Scams such as this were common with Ms. Eddy, which she happily repeated and blackmailed her followers to purchase new revisions often.
The ‘Tea Jacket Swindle’ further cemented her status as ‘Charlatan’. She asked in a draft, that her students ‘donate’ money for her to purchase three tea jackets. They were supposed to send money, not the jackets which she so needed. She cleaned house from her gullible followers once again.
To the Christian Scientist, the bible is an ancient text full of hundreds of thousands of mistakes, made up of myths and fables. They also believe that they need someone to interpret the bible for them, which was Ms. Eddy’s job, of course. Christian Science teaches that Mary conceived the spiritual idea of God and named it Jesus.
Guess what else? Yup, you guessed it. Mary Baker Eddy performed healing miracles! Don’t believe it. Just ask her! She wrote in the New York Sun that she healed cancer, tuberculosis, and diphtheria. In the paper she challenged anyone to prove she lied about her healings. Now, of course, names of the cured would have helped, but she refused to name the patients, or give any information about them or supply any witnesses names.
Now that she was a confessed healer, people came to her to heal them. What would our lady healer do? Yup, she refused.
During her life, she allowed family and friends to die horrible deaths rather than letting them seek treatment. (I wonder why she didn’t heal them herself?) After all, if Ms. Eddy refused treatment, so should everyone else. One problem…Ms. Eddy NEVER refused treatment when she was sick or injured.
Today, all illnesses supposedly cured by Christian Scientists are imagined illnesses or illnesses that lack medical documentation from the outside world. In other words, the cures are ‘Bogus’. Also, Christian Scientists don’t believe in God. They pray, but not too much because Ms. Eddy said that leads to temptation, to no one in particular.
Upon her death her fortune was over three million dollars. (Bones) Guess she should have prayed harder, then she could have lived and ripped off her gullible followers for more hard earned money.
