MY OPENING TO FREEDOM 112233
Of the fifty five delegates that signed our Constitution, only three, could even be remotely associated with Deism, the rest were Christian.
The reason the Constitution doesn't mention God is all the delegates came from 12 different states and had their own churches. There was agreement that the government wouldn't establish any of those state churches as the new federal church creating any resentment among others, or interfere with any state establishments. A reference to God or Jesus would have created divisions. The Declaration of Independence contains references to God. The first paragraph 'the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God'. Second paragraph, 'all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights,'. The final paragraph 'a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence'. There is no evidence of any delegate objecting to any of these Christian references.
Just one of many examples of the Constitution written with a Christian foundation is the fifth and fourteenth amendment, regarding property rights. "Nor shall private property be taken for public use without just compensation" compared to Exodus 20:15,17-"Thou shalt not steal" and "Thou shalt not covet" clearly imply property rights.
