Censorship is very real and the effects are horrifying.
Capitalism makes censorship very easy. Whenever the government doesn't want you to hear, read, or see anything that might change the way you think about life in the home of the free, they either get their buddies in the industry to claim it doesn't sell and banish it to the back room where only people who know exactly what they are looking for can find it, or they pass a law against it, labeling it "harmful" and "un-American."
One of the worst/best examples of censorship in Amerika is the virtual obliteration of Abbie Hoffman's Steal This Book. An amaizing text designed to teach anyone who is interested how to start an underground newspaper, beat the draft (and don't think they won't go back to using it once they decide to have another war), and find free medical care, clothing, and food.
It is our responsibility to get this information that the government clearly does not want you to have into the hands of as many people as possible. There is a war going on right now in Amerika, there always has been, and as long as there are people like Abbie Hoffman, there always will be.
