Children are innocent. They come into this world not by their own choice. They should be respected and treated properly to insure that they grow up to be adults to respect others and treat their own children right.
If a family is unable to provide a stable and safe home for a child I want to make sure that child is able to find a home that can provide that. Many children in foster care have parents who are in prison. They often feel lost and unloved and resort to negative behaviors that effect their entire lives. I want to be able to focus all of my love on that child. I want that child to feel loved and to feel safe. It's almost like this is what I was put here to do.
As for teaching... I'm tired of seeing teachers who do not know what they're teaching. If a teacher does not know fractions how can she really teach a group of 32 students about fractions? I'm also upset with how many children are pushed to the side because no one wants to spend a few extra minutes a day helping them learn. Some children need extra time and assistance learning how to read or how to do math problems. There are different methods for learning, although most teachers pick one and stick to it.
I want to be that teacher who shows up to school early to help the child who just isn't understanding how to multiply decimals. I am going to spend as much time as I need to making sure my students learn all of the educational topics they need to know.
That's not the end. I want each of my students to feel like they are special. That they are beautiful and that they can reach any goal they set their mind to. So not only will I be building on science skills but I want to be building on their self-esteem.
