A good man brings forth good,
an evil man brings forth evil.
We each have the capacity for
both within us.

It is impossible for a man to stretch two bows.
And it is impossible for a servant to serve
two masters.
Decide what it is that you want and do not
be distracted.

If mankind can move mountains it should
not be so difficult to
make peace.

To experience without abstraction is to sense
the world.
To experience with abstraction is to know
the world.

When you realize the tranquility within,
you and your relationship with the
world will flourish.

Be in harmony with nature,
do not always swim against the tide.

Be in harmony with nature,
nature does not possess fear
and without fear,
the heart may be quiet.

Be in harmony with nature,
nature does not possess hate
and without hate,
the heart may be quiet.

Be in harmony with nature,
nature does not possess envy
and without envy,
the heart may be quiet.

Work at being happy, it is the most
worthwhile exercise.

We must never hope to perceive anything
fully or comprehent anything
completely.

Friendliness is the road to happiness.

With a tranquil heart you can see beauty
on bleak days.

You can not think your way into a new way
of living-  you have to live your way
into a new way of thinking.

Don't let the memory of past failures deter you
from future success.

It is not important just that we can see,
it is how far we can see and
what we see that
matters.

It is not important just that we can hear,
it is how much we can hear and
what we hear that
matters.

It is not important just that we can feel,
is is how we feel and how we interpert
our feelings that
matters.

To deny the existence of the unconscious
suggests that we know completely
everything there is to be known
about the psyche.

We can never hope to know all there is to know about any individual, least of all
oureselves.

It is possible to isolate part of the mind to keep it calm in a sea of worries,
and to return to this
safe harbor at will.

We all have the tendency to erect
psychological berriers to protect us
against anything new or
unknown.

Once discovered, tranquility will
continue to influence our
conscious minds.

Forgetting is a normal process
of self - protection.

Learn to be content with what you have,
peace comes from
not wanting.

The mind can only keep a few images in full
focus at one time,
and even these tend to grow
foggy with time.

Many people mistakenly overestimate the role
of will power and think that
nothing can influence their minds
that they do not intend to.

Learn to differentiate between the
intentional and unintentional
contents of mind.

Some of the world's best ideas owe
their existence to inspirations from
the unconscious.

True contentment is quiet.

The harder you search for contentment,
the less likely you are to find it.

Life consists of a complex of opposites:
Birth and death;
Happiness and misery;
Day and night;
Good and evil.

We need meaning in our life,
we need to find a meaningful place
for ourselves in the vast
complexity of the universe.

Until we allow ourselves to find some kind
of meaning to our lives we will feel
lost and miserable.

When people lose the meaning of their lives
they effectively stop living.

If we cannot live in harmony with
external nature, then
we will find it difficult to
understand our own natures.

Nobody can afford to wait for
somebody else to do what he is
loath to do himself.

Do not be afraid to dream.

Do not allow your quest for tranquility
to become so enormous that you
become overwhelmed at the mere
thought of it.

Modern man gives way to impulses
that do not belong to him
at all.

Tranquility is not a retreat from reality.

When you point at the sky, do not
mistake your fingernail
for the moon.

To see clearly, your mind must be free
from wondering words and from
the floating fantasies of
memory.

When you feel yourself becoming  too
wrapped up in yourself,
go outside and gaze up
at a starry sky.

The personal ego, interests, and preferences are
nothing more than traps which will
alienate man from the natural entirety
of universal life.

Help another and you help yourself.

Understanding is the root of harmony
and tranquility.

Always endeavor to develop harmonious
relationships with all people.

The teacher is there to help the student's growth,
the student has a duty to accept the teacher's
help.

One cannot gain complete knowledge
with only a partial view
of life.

Tranquility is hard to find for those who
rush too quickly into accepting and
believing whatever others
tell them.

To enjoy the highs of life one must
also have tasted the lows.

Do not ever give up.
Have the courage of your
convictions.

Do not set your goals too high,
or you will fail before you
have begun.

Why is the present called a present?
Because it is a gift.

We all have problems we have to deal with,
no one leads a trouble-free life,
but it is how we deal with these problems
that makes the difference.

To the outside view,
a contented person may look very much like
a disconnected person.

You are the sun total of the choices you make.

Anything inside you that immobilizes you,
gets in your way, and keeps you
from your goals is part of you
and is yours to dispose of
as a wish.

Take some risks and stop worrying.

Expect to stay healthy.

Take charge of your feelings and regain
control of your life.

People who panic or get depressed
usually do so because they have
lost control.

A diamond is a chunk of coal
that made good
under pressure.

He who laughs, lasts.

Invest a little of your time in looking
after your body as well as
your mind.

Consciousness naturally resists
anything unconscious
and unknown.

Every day, reserve a little time,
just for yourself,
and relax.

Contentment is within everyone's
grasp, it is simply being  satisfied
with what you have made of your life,
and feeling in control of how
you feel.
