Beautiful Jun

While in the city of Wuzhou I met Jun Chen, a native of Wuhan. Within an hour I found myself being invited to have lunch with her and three friends. Fiercely independent, after the meal she shocked me by paying the tab herself. As much as I protested she would not accept any of my money.

Also, her own sense of personal worth and independence was reflected in her decision to leave Wuhan some three years earlier. "A Chinese man likes a son," she wrote. She felt devalued by her father, found it insufferable, so she packed her things, left home and set out to make her own path.

Appreciating her courage and individuality, she in turn greatly admired my freedom and travels. In a remarkably short time, through a display of character we made strong impressions on one another. I find it only fitting that I should honor her on my webpage ... all exquisite ninety-five pounds of her.
