Located in a valley at 3700 meters, the highest capital city in the world, La Paz makes for some good photography and interesting exploration. Nevado Illimani at about 6400 meters high looks over the city (far right of top picture).

With a population of over a million people I never expected to find a reasonably clean and modern city in Bolivia, supposedly the poorest nation of South America. By comparison the capital city of Lima in Peru is an absolute shithole.
