Huangshan is the name of a 72 peak range with a 1200 year history as a tourist attraction. The Tang Dynasty emperor Tian Biao gave it its present name in the 8th century.
Countless painters and poets have since trudged around the ranges seeking inspiration and bestowing the peaks with fanciful names, such as Nine Dragons, Taoist Priest, Ox Nose, Fairy Capital and Hunchback.
