" ... situated at No. 1 Garden Road in the Central district of Hong Kong. This 70-story Tower reaches an overall height of 367.40 meters and has a total building area of 135,000 sqare meters.
The Tower was designed by the well known American architect of Chinese descent, Mr. I.M. Pei. Mr. Pei took the growth of the bamboo plant as his design inspiration, symbolizing the enterprising spirit and future growth of the Bank of China as it shoots skyward section by section.
Construction was started on 18th of April, 1985 and the official opening took place five years later on 17th May, 1990. The Tower glistens like an everchanging prismatic crystal whether viewed from the harbor, the mountains, the air, or from nearby passer-bys at ground level. After nightfall the mirror-glass of the Tower reflects the lights of Hong Kong like a diamond."
