Arriving at the Fuzhou train station late one night I went into a restaurant for some dinner and met Shan (the girl on the right), who could speak a fair amount of English. Here she is pictured with a friend of hers and a boy related to the owner of the shop. It is in Fuzhou I set up camp for ten days and wrote the translation sheets I would use throughout my China travels, as well as learned my numbers and basic travel phrases.
