The first volcano climb I ever did. Another fellow and I hired a guide, we started hiking at midnight by flashlight. At one point, maybe about 4 am, for an extra five dollars the guide offered to take us within a few meters of a lava vent. We could see multiple lava vents in the distance flashing fire, but the offer struck the both of us as too dangerous. I'd jump at the chance now. Hehe. Anyway, continuing up the volcano we arrived at the peak just as the sun was breaking over the horizon, offering us a fantastic view of surrounding volcano peaks poking through a sea of clouds on all directions.
