Over a year in South America and only four days of beach. Pulling into the town of Pucón, one of two destinations where the richie-riches of Chile vacation, I was more than ready for some sun and sand.
I stayed here for two and a half weeks eating delicious raspberry-custard tarts for breakfast, huge hamburgers for supper. Worked on a good tan while reading Victor Hugo's Les Misérables, the only book I have read twice consecutively.
Picture 1 is lakeside with background Volcano Villarrica (2847m). Picture 2 is the beach scene in February.
Picture 3 is the factory where they manufacture volcanos in Chile -- a place that rivals Alaska & Indonesia for its number of active cones. I wanted a tour of the place, unfortunately it was closed.
Picture four is of the volcano. On a clear night I could see the top glowing red from lava in its crater.
