Ours was one of the best prepared cars in the rallies and always attracted a lot of attention, specially when we removed the fiberglass front. We competed is many rallies in the early 1980's in the group seven series in NSW for the MINI CAR Club of NSW. Here are some interesting facts about our Mini (If you are interested) It cost me $300 at an auction and it was not in running condition. It had adjustable front suspension (rubber Cone) other wise it was fairly plain. It was completely stripped down and rebuilt. Fiberglass front Cibie Driving lights Very tough sump guard Rally Tyres, Half roll cage, Racing Harness, and other safety equipment. The engine was done up of course, the block was off a 1100S and it had a long stroke crankshaft, a 45ml Webber and other stuff I can't remember The interior was completely redone including seats, dashboard an intercom and a home built electronic "Halda".
