Wood comes out of trees, and trees are becoming very valuable and dwindling resources due to high usage of wood in countless areas of our society: construction, furniture, paper, gardening, etc. To minimize the reduction of this natural resource, recycling became the extremely vital. The following information was extracted directly from Recyclers World. WOOD PALLET a.) Scrap Wooden Pallets Mixed or assorted scrap wooden pallets of various sizes may contain damaged or broken pallets. b.) Mixed Used Wooden Pallets Consist of assorted sizes of used wooden pallets or skids in fork-liftable stacks. May not contain assorted broken pallet pieces, but may contain a small amount of repairable pallets with an optional broken board. c.) Used CPC Pallets Used CPC Pallets shall consist of 48'x40' 4-way hardwood pallets, 4'x3' runners, minimum 1' boards, chamfered bottom boards. d.) Used GMA Pallets Reusable 48'x40' 4-way hardwood wooden pallets or skids. This is the standard used by the Grocery Manufactures Association (GMA). e.) Used 4 Way / 2 Way Pallets Consist sorted reusable wooden pallets with notched runners that will allow a forklift truck to pick-up the pallet from all four directions. The reusable pallets are to be sorted into uniform sizes and specifications. The sizes are to be designated by runner length, board width and board thickness. The designation as to hardwood or softwood is optional and must be agreed to between the buyer and seller. Pallets with broken or damaged boards or runners may not be included. f.) Used Block Pallets Used Block Pallets shall consist of various sizes of standard automotive industry wooden pallets or skids designed with wooden blocks in place of runners. g.) Used Paper Mill Pallets Consist of various sizes of wooden pallets or skids designed to carry rolls of paper. Standard configuration is a minimum 2'x6' runner with a minimum 1' board. Top boards are aligned so as to form a table platform with no bottom boards. h.) UPL 4 Way / 2 Way Runners (sized) Consist of Used Pallet Lumber (UPL) recovered from pallet dismantling operations. Must contain uniform sorted sizes of reusable good notch runners (standard notch length and spacing) with no protruding nails or staples. All grades of UPL should be palletized and securely banded and clearly labeled in lifts of under 4 feet in height. i.) UPL Boards Consist of Used Pallet Lumber (UPL) from a pallet dismantling operation. Must contain uniform sorted sizes of reusable pallet boards runners with no protruding nails or staples. All grades of UPL should be palletized and banned securely, clearly labeled in lifts of under 4 feet in height. j.) Used Pallet Blocks Consist of recovered blocks from standard automotive block pallets. The Recover Pallet Blocks shall be sorted into uniform sizes and may not contain protruding nails or staples. WASTE WOOD a.) Mixed C&D Wood Assorted mixed wood scrap from construction or demolition sources. Mixed C&D Wood may be of various sizes and may contain miscellaneous attachments & nails. b.) Mixed Shredded Wood Mixed Shredded Wood consist of shredded C&D wood waste that has been prepared to a uniform size under 2 inches in any dimension any has been run threw a magnetic separation system to remove excess nails & other steel items. c.) Treated Wood Waste Treated Wood Waste consist of assorted wood waste and may contain wood that has been pressure treated with preservatives and may also include creosol treated lumber. d.) Shredded Treated Wood Waste Shredded Treated Wood Waste consist of assorted shredded wood waste that has been prepared to a uniform size under 2 inches in any dimension any has been run threw a magnetic separation system to remove excess nails & other steel items and may contain wood that has been pressure treated with preservatives and may contain creosol. |
