Right to Left in photo are Alvah,
Cyrus, and Mason Davis, brothers and sons of Charles Edward Davis. Alvah
was the oldest of the brothers and Cyrus(Cye) was the youngest. Alvah was
born in 1894 near Pursley Community in Navarro County, Texas. Mason was
also born there in 1897. Cyrus(Cye) was born in 1905 a few years after
the family moved to the Elbert, Texas area around 1901. From 1901 to 1926
details are scarce on the family but Alvah married Miriam L Jennings a
year or so before the family moved to the "high plains" near Lockney, Texas
around 1926. Mom had told me she was born about a year before they
moved up there. John was at the table and we talked about the difficult
time they had living down around Baylor County or the area perhaps and
digging a water well and building a place for the families to live the first
year they farmed. I think mom said they all lived in the first house while
they got started on the farm and it was near where Mason's old house was and
was I think the original house but not sure. I'll put photo up of it as mom did
have a photo of her Grampa Charlie building it before they moved up there. They each
helped each other build a home and dig a well within a few years just after starting
on the farm. The four families shared in paying off the land. Their father Charles Edward
had made the down payment with proceeds from inheritance he received from Mr. Augustine of
Illinois his ancestor on his mom's side of the family, Christina Liming.
