Received copy of will, inventory and appraisment, and two executors bonds, four documents from Library of Virginia Thursday, 23 December 1999. These documents do not show James B Davis as his son nor when their children were born. Documents do show that James Davis his son could possibly have been born about the same time as James B Davis. Interesting that Martin Hawkins signed as witness to his will in 1787. I do not know of any relation between him and John Hawkins the father in law of James B Davis. Nathan Hawkins was listed on executors bond justice of court of Spotsylvania. Benjamin Davis was born 10 Jan 1743. Benjamin and Elizabeth Davis children were listed as James, Lewis, Benjamin, Elijah, Richard and Acy on the executors bond of 1794 as orphans of Benjamin Davis. They weren't mentioned by name on his will dated 1787. They were provided for in that will with his reference to them as, "all of my children". I assume Elizabeth his wife died between 1791 and 1794. She signed with her "x" on one of the executor's bond documents but I did not see a date on that page.
