Grave Stone of Cyrus Allen Davis and Maye Foster Davis, Parklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Plainview, Texas.

The inscription reads: "MAYE FOSTER..b. Oct 14, 1906..d.Feb 19, 1994......CYRUS A. (CYE)..b. Jul 19, 1905..d. Nov 21, 1992....DAVIS" Cye was the son of Charles Edward Davis and Sarah Annie Roberts. They lived near Sterley, Texas when they first started their farm. Cye and Maye Davis later relocated to a farm near or in Kress, Texas just north of Plainview. I think the railroad had right of way through Cye's land and he elected to move a few miles North West towards Kress. Cye's dad Charles Edward Davis was born in Cass County, Illinois, the son of John Barton Davis and Christina Liming. John Barton moved the family to the Dresden, Texas area in the winter of 1878. They arrived in time for spring planting, it took about 90 days of winter travel from Illinois to Texas. Charles Edward was about 8 years old then. Charles married Sarah Annie Roberts and Cyrus Allen Davis was the youngest surviving child of Charles and Sarah Davis. Cyrus was born near Elbert, Texas. Charles, Sarah and three sons moved to their new farm near Sterley, Texas about 1927 from the area near Abilene or Hamby in the four county corner of Shakleford Co, TX where Doris my mom was born in 1926. She said she was about a year old when they moved up there Charles and his sons made payments on the land together untill it was paid off. Their son Eugene Davis passed away 9 Jan 2003 and was buried facing this plot in this cemetery, services were held on Monday 13 Jan 2003 at Plainview Church of Christ in Plainview, TX. Mom passed away on 27 Aug 2002 in Dallas, TX and was buried at Wylie Cemetery in Wylie, TX 31 Aug 2002.
