This photo was sent to me by Mr. William(Bill) Towles and he said a relative sent it to him and had hired someone to go to Elbert TX to take photo's. As you can see in photo it is of Grave Stone of Rebecca Soapes wife of Jessie O Soapes who is also buried there close the rock stone to right of her grave I believe.

The inscription reads SOAPES Rebecca Soapes OCT 24 1827 DEC 13 1912

She was the wife of Jessie O Soapes and they had lived in Clinton Oklahoma and Mr. Towles did not know how or when they wound up in Elbert but I suspect that because the Roberts/Davis/Jennings families had possibly lived in area on their way to Abilene and other parts they came to live near Alice Cockrell their daughter's family. Rebecca was a Featherston or Featherstone or Featherstien before she married Jessie O Soapes. I never was sure how the name was spelled as my Aunt Jonnie Jennings spelled it one way and Bill's sources spelled it another.
