Richard L. Davis was born in Kentucky, April 15, 1826, and died at the home of his son Joseph Davis Tuesday afternoon Funeral services occurred Thursday morning from the residence, Rev. Wm. Dyer of Concord officiating and interment followed in the Clark burying ground. The deceased came to this county when quite young He was married in 1848 to Mary E. Buck and to them two children were born one of whom survives, it being Joseph at whose home he died. His wife dying a few years later he was again married in 1854 to Elizabeth Buck and to this union eleven children were born, the surviving being Stephen, of Cornland, Mary Cumberworth of Springfield, Jane Davis of Hule, Sophia Blum, of Bluff Springs Jacob of Springfield ; Anna Schoffield of Springfield, Richard of Philadelphia Emma Lovekamp of Arenzville. The deceased has been ill for some time with dropsy and his death was not expected. He was a highly respected citizen of this county and was one of the pioneers.
