Thoughts

Oddly enough, I don't consider myself much of an Amadeus fan ^^; But I asked to do this section of the website out of love for another band... the one that became Amadeus: AFTER IMAGE.

The first time I listened to AFTER IMAGE, I was completely blown away. They combined a strong hard rock guitarline, heavy bass, piano, synthesizers and an angelic male vocal to create a very solid and original sound. Not only that, but they managed to make songs sound almost epic in scope...

I must admit to being a gigantic fan of Seiji and his voice... While I never thought of Gackt as much of an angel, I never had any doubts about Seiji being one ^_~

AFTER IMAGE's sound, while similar to Amadeus, was something a bit more balanced and hard-hitting. Since the guitarist Rayka left the band, the music has become much more synthetic and classical. It's lost a certain level of... originality. Most Amadeus songs seem at first listen to be blatently plagiarised from classical compositions and the score of Phantom of the Opera ^^; The band is also heavily imbalanced now with Miyu and Nene acting as pretty figureheads more than actually audible participants in the majority of tracks. Nene, at times, seems to be added for the sole purpose of making the band a novelty act. She has a heavenly voice, but rarely does she take the lead vocal away from Seiji and rarely rises above glorified back-up vocal.

Still... Nene has a beautiful voice. Hiron is a talented pianist. Miyu would be wonderful if we could actually hear him more often ^^; And Seiji... well... he's still an angel ^ ^ I just wish they could find a sound that utilized their collective talents rather than showcasing their individual ones.
