Watari is the 'mad scientist' of the group that has an owl for a best friend.  No one knows where he got Zero-san/003.  Watari likes to be in his lab most of the time and invents things as well as works on a medicine to change his gender.  The reason why is because he wasn't to understand everything and to understand the oppisite gender is to become the oppisite gender.  Well that's what he figures. This genki (happy/energetic) shinigami cares very deeply for his friends and is the one to first act when Tsuzuki or Hisoka are in trouble.  Even though he doesn't show it and fights alot with his partner Tatsumi, he really values Tatsumi as a friend. Oh and he has a liking to birds.  In his lab he has a penguin and a puffin that hangs out with him there, while you can never get 003 away from Watari.  Also here is a little bit of information.  Yutaka (Watari's first name) means 'snow hawk'.  Kind of cute, huh?
