Dreaming Rain
Part 1

The rain, it was so sweet. The heavy drops shattered upon the rims of her silver rimmed glasses. Her face was set in a sad expression. Pain feed into her heart as she looked up to the storm covered clouds. Hazel eyes where glazed over with a distant look. Delicate hands tucked into her black jean pants as the rain drenched her double shirt. One was a white long sleeved shirt with a hood, and the shirt over it was a black T. Her coffee brown hair with bleached streaks was matted and stuck to her face.

Bowing her head, the girl glanced through the corner of her eyes at him. A tear streamed down her cheek as her bottom lip quivered with her mouth slightly open. She looked angry, confused, hurt. Tsuzuki closed his eyes as his arms wrapped around him. The pain she felt was the same as his, it hurt so much. But why? The pain was just too much. It throbbed like a fresh steam burn.

Tsuzuki woke up with tears socking his pillow once again. He had been seeing this dream for more than a month now and every time he would wake up crying. That awful throbbing in his heart wouldn't subside. Sitting up the shinigami rubbed his eyes trying to stop the tears. They wouldn't stop though, they continued to roll down his cheeks.

"I'm sorry," he whispered. "I'm so sorry."

"Tsuzuki?" Watari came into the room dressed in yellow pajamas and holding a pillow firmly.

"I'm sorry Watari," Tsuzuki turned from his friend. "I… I just…"

The blond scientist walked up and knelt down to his friend. He had spent the night because Tsuzuki was talking about his dream and he wanted to observe this transaction that his friend continues to experience. Him staying over was also to relax the shinigami and it had succeeded in cheering up Tsuzuki. They had a blast playing games, talking, and watching movies the night before. So now the theory of the amethyst eyed shinigami being too stressed was out the window.

"Tsuzuki, was it that dream again?" Watari placed his hand on his friend's back.

The man nodded as the tears continued to spill over his tender fingers, "Why does it hurt so much?… Watari?"

The scientist rubbed his friend's back. He remembered that his mother would do that when he was a child and up set. Hey it worked for him, might as well comfort someone the way that you knew best right?

As Watari warmed Tsuzuki's back with soft circular motions he thought things over. There were so many possibilities that would cause a reaction like that.

"Maybe she was one of your previous cases," Watari offered. "And you regret that case so much that after a while it just built up on you."

Tsuzuki shook his head, "No… I've never seen her before… Yet it feels like I've known her all my life."

"Maybe when you were a kid-!"

"No! I said I haven't seen her before."

"…. Then there is one last thing that I know of… She's a spirit that's reaching out to you, trying to communicate. Maybe something that happened to you in your past is allowing her some kind of passage to your mind while you sleep."

Tsuzuki sniffled, "Maybe…"

"Hey, we could see if the Gushoushin have anything on her. Like files that we can look at."

…… Later that day……

Tatsumi looked up from the file in his hands. With a sullen shake of his head he placed the file upon Konoe's desk. "Are you sure she's with in our jurisdiction?" he asked.

"Yes," Konoe stood up. "Oddly enough, even though she's American, her soul belongs to Japan."

"Was she born here?"

"No."

"Will she die here?"

"You never know."

"Hmmm…. This girl, what is wrong to bring our attention to her?"

Kachou laced his fingers together behind his back, "To be honest… I have no idea."

"What?"

"All I know is that she has been on the border of insanity as of late. Then there is the fact that Lord Enma himself said that he wanted only Tsuzuki to see into this."

"But that's against the rules!"

"Not when Lord Enma himself orders it. He said to give the file to Tsuzuki and let him take things from there."

Tatsumi frowned visibly, there was something odd about all of this. But then again, if Lord Enma ordered it then one must obey. He picked up the file once again to give the girl in the picture one last glance as he walked out of the office room. The shadow tamer couldn't help but think that Tsuzuki was really the one that was needed for this job.

The secretary was glad that he found Tsuzuki so quickly. One reason was the case was to be top priority and the other was that the Gushoushin was still angry at him from blowing up the library for a second time.

"Tsuzuki-san," Tatsumi trotted over with file in hand.

"Ah, Tatsumi! Ohayou!" Tsuzuki smiled.

The shinigami looked at the beautiful man in front of him before holding the file out, "This is your new case."

"Ha? Does Hisoka know?" he took the file.

"No, you see," Tatsumi adjusted his glasses. "This case is to be handled by yourself."

"EH?!" Watari and Tsuzuki shouted at the same time.

"But that's against the rules!" Watari looked shocked as his friend that he was standing next to.

"I know, but it appears that Lord Enma himself had ordered this to be. Tsuzuki-san, this is to be your main concern until it has been completed. Understand?"

Tsuzuki nodded as he opened the file. Soon as he looked at the picture of the girl his heart raced. "A-are you sure this is the right file?" he asked out of breath.

Tatsumi nodded, "Yes."

Watari looked over his friend's shoulder and gasped.

"Tsuzuki!" he shouted pointing at the picture. "That's that girl you keep dreaming about!"

Tsuzuki took off in a full run, he had to get to her. He had to know who she was, why she came to him in his dreams! He had to, he had to… see her.
