Comment:
Good old cheap american ramen. I orginally wasn't going to be reviewing these, but have since changed my mind. Maruchan claims that this is gonna be "hot", but they fail bad. There's just a slight hint of spicyness, but mostly the broth has a salty, cilantro flavor to it. The broth isn't that bad and the shrimp actaully are pretty good. The noodles are thin and are ribbon cut.

Comment:
California vegetable, I guess that means throw a little bit of every veggie in a ramen bowl. The broth had an odd flavor I just couldn't figure out. Its no help when the ingredients just lists "spice" as the ingredient. Anyway the broth had a peppery flavor, but no spicyness at all. The one thing that stands out in the ramen is the amount of veggies. There's a large amount and they add a lot of flavor and crunchiness to the ramen. Maybe Maruchan will put avacado in the ramen next time.

Comment: At first glance I thought this was shirmp flavored ramen. Wrong. Its ramen with shrimp. Apparentely Maruchan wants to add chicken broth to every ramen flavor. The broth is unflavorful. Just salty and not much in flavor. The few veggies dont add much flavor either. And neither did the 3 shrimp. This ramen isn't that bad it just doesn't have a flavor.

MARUCHAN BEEF FLAVOR
Soup Base: salt, hydrolyzed corn, wheat and soy protein, monosodium glutamate, lactose, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), maltodextrin, beef extract, sugar, spices, chicken broth, caramel color, soya lecithin, potassium carbonate, sodium phosphate, beef fat, sodium carbonate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, turmeric, bht
Dehydrated Mix: corn, carrot, onion, garlic, chive, textured soy protein
Spicyness: 1
Comment: As usual with maruchan to the noodles soak up a lot of the broth and leaves very little. The broth had a slight beef flavor, but mostly a salty flaovr. No spicyness and not much other flavor either. The veggies and textrued protein add some texture, but not enough. Needs more flavor.

MARUCHAN ROAST CHICKEN FLAVOR

Comment: As usual not much and an overwhelming amount of noodles. The broth had a chicken flavor, but I wouldn't call it "roasted". No spicyness and just mostly a chicken bullion and salty flavor. The carrots and corn were really sweet and added a nice change of pace. Your typical American ramen.

Comment: Wow, something different from Maruchan. There seems to be an influx from manufacturers in the American grocery stores to start carrying more than just the typical cheap ramen. It's  nice to see a different style of noodle plus maybe Maruchan is feeling the pressure from Nong Shim since they are in the American market now. Well, this ramen is pretty much like the others from Maruchan. A salty, chicken boullion flavor. But also there is a very strong cabbage flavor. There is an ample amount of veggies for flavor plus huge pieces of cabbage. Overall a decent attempt at something different from Maruchan.

MARUCHAN LIME CHILI FLAVOR WITH SHRIMP
Soup Base: salt, hydrolyzed corn, wheat and soy protein, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), monosodium glutamate, habanero and other spices, lactose, citric acid, sugar, natural flavor, chicken broth, caramel color, soya lecithin, potassium carbonate, beef fat, sodium phosphate, sodium carbonate, lime powder, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, turmeric, freshness preserved by bht
Dehydrated Mix: carrot, green peas, onion, garlic, shrimp
Spicyness: 4
Comment: You have to be skeptical with Maruchan claiming to be hot and spicy. But this one does not disappoint. The broth was a salty, sour and spicy flavor. This one is probably to spicy for the Amercian palette. But not mine. The veggies provided some character and the shrimp were really sweet. A good Maruchan ramen.

MARUCHAN HOT & SPICY BEEF FLAVOR
Season Packet: salt, spices, monosodium glutamate, beef extract, miso powder(soybeans, salt, modified food starch), autolyzed yeast extract, hydrolyzed corn, wheat and soy protein, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), sugar, lactose, citric acid, chicken broth, natural flavor, soya lecithin, potassium carbonate, sodium phosphate, sodium carbonate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, turmeric
Dehydrated Mix: carrot, corn, garlic, onion, chive
Spicyness: 3
Comment: I was skeptical of this ramen being spicy at all. I was wrong. Maruchan actually got this one right. Not as spicy as Korean ramen, but this has a little kick to it. Again, I still think Maruchan tries to pack to many noodles in these cups which in turn soaks up a lot of the broth. The broth had a nice beefy flavor with a spicy overtone. There was a lot of veggies and they added a crunch and sweetness to every bite. This is a big improvement for Maruchan with this spicy variety.

MARUCHAN YAKISOBA TERIYAKI FLAVOR
Season Packet: sugar, salt, worcester sauce powder(tomato, hydrolyzed corn and soy protein, sugar, acetic acid), maltodextrin, monosodium glutanmate, tomato powder, pineapple juice powder, spices, lactose, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), hydrolyzed corn, wheat and soy protein, rice oil, caramel color, silicon dioxide(anticaking agent), malic acid, potassium carbonate, sodium phosphate, sodium carbonate, tocopherol, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate
Dehyrated Mix: cabbage, corn, carrot
Spicyness: 1
Comment: No broth in this ramen, you add just enough water to rehydrate the noodles and mix in the season packet. The flavor was a sweet, sometimes salty taste. Not much flavor other than that. The veggies provided a bit of sweetness and crunch. This is your typical American ramen, but worth eating.

MARUCHAN HOT & SPICY FLAVOR WITH SHRIMP
Soup Base: salt, monosodium glutamate, powdered cooked chicken, miso powser(salt, soybeans, wheat, rice), autolyzed yeast extract, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), hydrolyzed corn, wheat and soy protein, sugar, natural flavor, natural and artificial shrimp and lobster flavor, lactose, citric acid, chicken broth, soya lecithin, potassium carbonate, sodium phosphate, sodium carbonate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, turmeric
Dehydrated Mix: carrot, garlic, onion, chive
Spicyness: 4
Comment: Well another spicy variation for Maruchan. This one to me was more spicy than the spicy beef flavor. So much in fact that the broth at times was just a spicy flavor and not much else. I didn't mind though with me loving spicy foods. In reality this was a spicy broth with a few pieces of shrimp in the mix. The veggies in the mix were in the background and not really noticed unlike other Maruchan flavors. This is actually a great ramen!!

MARUCHAN HOT & SPICY CHICKEN
Soup Base: salt, powdered cooked chicken, monosodium glutamate, spices, chicken fat, hydrolyzed corn, wheat an soy protein, chicken broth, autolyzed yeast extract, dehydrated soy sauce(wheat, soybeans, salt, maltodextrin), sugar, lactose, citric acid, soya lecithin, potassium carbonate, turmeric, natural flavor, sodium phosphate, sodium carbonate, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate
Dehydrated Mix: carrot, corn, garlic, onion, chive

Comment: These hot and & spicy varities from Maruchan are some of the better ramen in the American stores. The chicken flavor really is no differnet than the beef or shrimp flavor I have already reviewed. The broth is a bright red and the spicyness burns the back of the throat but the flavor is pretty good. A chicken flavor is there in the background but mostly the spicyness is what you taste and this is the best part. Of course the massive amounts of salt and MSG are present but when eating ramen this is to be expected. The dehydrated veggies add some complexity but the corn is super sweet. Another winner from Maruchan.
