Without doubt, Alabama is one of the most perfect breeding grounds on the planet for parasites. Our mild winters do little to destroy flea and tick populations. Ample amounts of rain and freshwater resources keep us stocked with mosquitos. There are preventative products available to deal with a multitude of threats to your pet's health. The products listed below simplify the preventative process:
Sentinel
Revolution

Sentinel provides owners with a flavor tab which prevents heartworm, hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infestations (like Interceptor Flavor Tabs) and adds Lufenuron (the ingredient found in Program) to prevent flea infestions.

Sentinel tablets are small enough to hide in peanut butter or slices of cheese, for the finicky pet. It is recommended that Sentinel be given with a meal, in order to aid in the absorptive process.

Sentinel tabs come in boxes of six.
For pet owners who prefer a topical solution (a liquid applied directly to the skin) for their pet, Revolution, from Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, is targeted at heartworms and fleas. The product is also used as part of a protocol to battle ear mites and sarcoptic mange infestations. If you believe your pet may have ear mites, check with your veterinarian for a definitive diagnosis and ask about using Revolution to end the problem.
