Seasonal Secret
By TT
Tank knocked on the door of Stephanie's apartment and waited for her to answer the door. He knew Ranger was here and, normally, Tank wouldn't think of bothering him, but it had been hours and the situation had become urgent. He had to speak to Ranger.
It only took a minute or two for Stephanie to open the door.
When she saw who it was, Tank saw her eyes grow wide. All he could think was, 'This should be interesting'. “Ranger here?” he asked.
Stephanie nodded slightly and then stammered, “I... I didn't mean it. I didn't ... I mean... If I'd known... I'm really sorry, but I couldn't figure out how to make him stop.”
His concern growing quickly, Tank's hand went automatically to his gun as he moved into the small living room area of the apartment. What he saw when he got there froze him in his tracks. “Oh, God,” he whispered in horror. It had been years since the last time and he had hoped he'd never see it again.
“I'm sorry, Tank,” Stephanie apologized again, her voice pleading.
“You couldn't know,” he assured quietly. “No one but his family and me know.”
“What do we do?” Stephanie asked, her voice little more than a worried whisper.
“Not much we can do. We'll have to wait until he runs out and then deal with it from there,” Tank advised.
Stephanie's mouth dropped open in horror. “But, Tank. I have twelve more bags of Christmas Peeps!”
Tank's eyes widened in horror. “God help us all.”
End.
Author's Note: For those who may not know, a peep is a sugar-coated marshmallow which comes in various shapes and, now, flavors. I like to think of them as sugar-coated sugar.
