Important Program Information & Event Schedule

 

Program locations are as follows unless otherwise noted:

 

St. John the Evangelist Church (in the school basement)

2315 Seneca St. (near the corner of Caz Park)

 

Valley Community Association

93 Leddy St. (at intersection of South Park and Leddy)

 

*All activities and times are subject to change without notice. All Programs (except field trips) are available on a drop-in basis. You do not need to attend for the whole day to participate in these programs and activities.*

             

Age Requirements:    Participants must be between the ages of 13- 18 to attend.

 

Meal Breaks:             Some meals will be provided for you, free of charge, however, it is highly recommended that you bring extra money or a bagged lunch just in case.

 

Schedule of Events & Activities

 

TUESDAY,                 1:00- 4:30pm   Caz Park Cleanup Day (Please bring rakes and/ or

JULY 23:                    shovels if possible for this important community service event!)

(St. Johns)                    4:30- 5:30pm   Meal Break

                                    5:30- 7:30pm   Scavenger Hunt- “The Search for the Missing Mack”

 

WEDNESDAY,          1- 8pm             FIELD TRIP to Niagara Falls, Ontario

JULY 24:                    We will be going to the world famous Butterfly Conservatory and 

(Valley)                        Botanical Gardens as well as the Canadian Falls. Many attractions are

                                    available; you may choose what you would like to go to.

 

Transportation and entry costs for the Butterfly Conservatory are free.

 

Entry costs into other attractions are at your own expense, we will stop to exchange money. The prices below are in Canadian funds:

                        Maid of the Mist:$12.25

                        IMAX Theatre:$12.00

                        Clifton Hill:Many tourist attractions are found here, such as; the Wax

                        Museum, World Records Museum and Ripley’s Believe it or Not!

                        Museum. Entrance fees for these attractions are unknown.

            What you need to go on this trip:

1.      Your birth certificate and a form of picture ID (school ID’s are OK)

2.      A signed note from a parent or guardian saying that it is OK that you go out of the country with the Summer H.E.A.T program

3.      Money for food and attractions

4.      Sunscreen, camera (if you wish), sunglasses, etc.

            *Be at the Valley Center by 12:30 for check in!*

 

THURSDAY,             4- 9pm             School preparation, tutoring, computer use, open gym

JULY 25:

(Valley)

 

FRIDAY,                    4- 9pm (possibly later)  FIELD TRIP to JNC Golf n Games

JULY 26:                    Bus transportation will be provided from the Valley Center, free

(Valley)                        of charge. Go Karts, Mini-Golf, & Video games! Dinner Provided.

 

TUESDAY,                 1- 4:30pm        Career/ Personality/Leadership Styles Workshop with

JULY 30:                    expert Bill Knoche- Don’t miss this!

(Valley)                        4:30- 9pm        Galleria Mall(Field Trip)- you may shop, and/ or attend

                                    A movie. Transportation will be provided, however, please bring your

                                    own spending money.

 

WEDNESDAY,          1- 9pm             FIELD TRIP to Darien Lake

JULY 31:                    Registration is required by 7/ 29 for this event.

(Valley)                        Transportation will be provided, and the entry into the park will

            be free. However, please bring spending money for games and any

            other extras.

            *Be at the Valley Center by 12:00 for check in!*

 

THURSDAY,             4- 6pm             School preparation, tutoring, computer use, open gym

AUGUST 1:                6- 8pm             CPR Training with expert Beth Kent

(Valley)                        8- 9pm             Open recreation

 

FRIDAY,                    4- 9pm             FIELD TRIP to Woodlawn Beach

AUGUST 2:                Transportation will be provided, swimming, beach volleyball, sand castle

(Valley)                        contest, and BBQ Chicken Dinner-FREE!

 

TUESDAY,                 2:30- 4:30pm   Massage therapy Workshop with Patrick Ingrassia,

AUGUST 6:                LMT. Please wear comfortable clothing (no loose shorts please)

(Valley)                        4:30- 5:30pm   Meal Break

                                    5:30- 8pm        Music Expo and Jam Session

            Local bands and musicians will play for your own personal concert-

            Bring an instrument if you wish.

 

WEDNESDAY,          VOLUNTEER DAY!

AUGUST 7:                1:00- 3:30pm   Valley Center Youth Program

(Valley)                        Lead activities for younger kids and be a great role model!

            3:30- 4:30pm   Open Recreation

            4:30- 5:30pm   Meal Break

            5:30- 7:30pm   Westwood Village Nursing Home

            Spend some time entertaining the elders in our community-

            It’s bingo night!

 

THURSDAY,             4- 6pm             School preparation, tutoring, computer use, open gym

AUGUST 8:                6- 8pm             Stress Management Workshop with Beth Kent

(Valley)                        8- 9pm             Open Recreation

 

FRIDAY,                    4- 9pm             FIELD TRIP to Movie Night

AUGUST 9:                Transportation to a movie theater will be provided

(Valley)

 

TUESDAY,                 1- 4:30pm        Art Workshops- Sculpture, photography, anime

AUGUST 13:              drawing

(Valley)                        5- 10pm           Concert- Jackdaw (a Celtic Rock band) at Art Park

                                    Transportation will be provided and the concert is free

 

WEDNESDAY,          1- 5pm             Laser Tron Field Trip (Details to be announced)

AUGUST 14:              5- 9pm             Closing cookout and campfire
