June 2000
Let me introduce myself.  I am Tyler. When I was only 4 weeks old, a rescue person brought me to a vet to have me put to sleep because I am a CH kitty which severely damaged the part of the brain that controls coordination. I will get no worse; I can only get better. I was lucky that the rescue person brought to this particular vet, because as you can see I am still here. I am seven months old now and in the past few months I have greatly improved my walking.

I am up for adoption, so I want you to know everything about me.

I have to say that I'm extremely smart - everyone agrees on that. I'm wobbly but I get to the litter pan myself. I have a special litter pan, which works great for urinating, but when I poop, sometimes I get a little messy and I must be cleaned.  I don't like being soiled.  Sorry to bring that up, but I want you to know all about me.

I can get around quite well in my own fashion.  I can eat on my own, although Aunt Shirley made me a
feeding station in which I can stand the entire time I eat. She also made a twelve foot walkway that leads to my “housie” where I sleep at night.  I love to play, eat, sleep and snuggle with people. I will even climb into your lap. Really I can do all the things other cats do and some things I can even do better.

I love other cats; they are fun to play and sleep with. At Aunt Shirley's I used to play with another foster cat named
Wilbur who has one eye. We got along great; he got lucky and was adopted.  Well, I really shouldn’t say he got lucky, as I love staying at Aunt Shirley’s Kitty Resort.

I need a home of my own, ideally one with carpeted floors and a careful, patient human who won't step on me by mistake.  I am out of my cage, which I call my “housie”, during the day, but I sleep in my housie at night so I don't get into trouble.  I'd like to be in a permanent home where I could safely be out and about as much as I am at Aunt Shirley's and where there are other felines and loving people to be my friends.

Aunt Shirley and my vet have very high standards for me.  I hope there is someone that can love me and give the care that I require.  I live in New Jersey, but willing to travel to neighboring states for the right home.

What about it? Do you think I am right for you? Thanks for listening to my story.  Do you think you can make my dream come true?  Purrs and hugs, Tyler

PS  This is not a requirement but I love home cooked meals with fresh veggies.
       Strawberry cheesecake, too!

January 2001
It's been 8 months and I am still here and quite frankly I liked to stay.
Christmas has come and gone.  There weren't many Christmas presents, as we get what we need throughout the year.  There is one present all the felines receive; Aunt Shirley picks us up and tells us to look up at the ceiling and says that is the best present and a kitty could ever want - a roof over your head filled with lots of love.

June 2002
Well, I’ve been here for 2 years and it looks like no one but Aunt Shirley, Uncle Bob and my vet wanted me, but that's fine with me, I am really happy.  They are willing to keep me, but keep an open mind about my adoption because I am really putting her older cats’ (who are living with cancer) noses out of joint. Even though I have the other cats to terrorize, I would like a human to spend more play time with.

July 2002
Surprise, along comes Ben. I said “Who is this guy that wants to come see me?” He came at a very bad time in my life - another foster came into the house and I was not a happy camper about another invading my territory.  Don’t anybody dare come near me.
On the day Ben came to see me, I wouldn’t speak to him and I rarely made an appearance. Ben didn’t care I was having a bad day. He wasn’t able to hold or pet me; he just saw my face and wanted me.

I don’t think Ben realized how much Aunt Shirley and the vet were analyzing what he was saying, as to whether he would be a good parent or not.
Ben invited them to visit his place to be sure it would be suitable for me.
Finally the deal was done and off to Ben’s I went.

It was rough for Aunt Shirley to give me up, but I emailed “home” almost every day at the beginning.  They came to visit, which was part of my adoption contract.

September 2002
It only took me a few weeks to adjust and to train Ben.  I have him pretty well trained.  He knows my favorite vegetable is asparagus.  I can’t say it’s home cooked, but he brings me home a lot of human food.

He plays with me a lot, just what I wanted.

November 2002
Thanksgiving was great, lots of leftovers.

April 2003
Granddad was here again to visit.  I like it when he comes.  It's another body I can play pranks on.  One of my most memorable ones was when I jumped up onto his lap and his pizza went flying.  That was great!

The Professor (Dad) could tell you the one about the time he was eating chocolate cake.  I'll save that one for him.

March 27, 2006
Life has been good to me.  I have a great dad, a vet that gave me a chance at life when others wanted to end it, and I have Aunt Shirley and Uncle Bob who never gave up on me and have never forgotten me.

Humm, I smell something.  The Professor  is known to burn Irish oatmeal, but it doesn't smell like oatmeal.  Excuse me for a moment,  I hear someone calling me, I don’t recognize the voice.  It’s a quiet gentle voice.  I see an angel and she is calling to me, I must leave now.
I love you all - purrs and hugs,
Tyler
