Chula showed better coordination in the first half and found the net in the 32nd minute through Kiartisak. After the breather, the game became more exciting. Tempers frayed as the referee got busy, showing yellow cards to six players. Chula played an ultra-defensive game and waited for the opportunity to strike while the never-say-die Thammasat tried desperately for the elusive equaliser. The game almost ended with a 1-0 score when substitute Jatupong Thongsuk scored during injury time to emphasise Chula's victory. The win helped Chula increase their record in the series to 12 wins. Thammasat won 20 of the 57 matches played so far, while 25 matches were drawn. Thammasat coach Anan Amornkiart blamed the referee for his team's defeat. However, he added that his team missed several chances to equalise. "I must say that Chula's defence was very strong but we will make amends next year," he said. Meanwhile, Chula coach Chutha Thingsapat said his players, particularly the strikers, performed well. "We should have scored at least two goals in the first half. But I am happy with the way my players played today. Indeed, we played some defensive soccer in the second half, tried to counter-attack and apply some pressure on our rivals," he said.
