Sector 3 - 2B

This SubSector contains the Roche and Utos Systems.

------------

Roche System
The Roche system contains the Roche asteroid field, a relatively stable configuration of asteroids orbiting a small yellow sun. In addition to mynocks and space slugs, the Roche field is home to the intelligent insectoid species called the Verpine. There are three common theories as to how the Verpine came to inhabit the inhospitable asteroid belt: that they are the descendants of spacefaring nomads, that their original planet disintegrated around them over thousands of years, or that they destroyed their planet in a devastating war. The Verpine inhabit networks of tunnels in the larger asteroids, hermetically sealing them from vacuum and covering them with repulsorfields to prevent collision with other asteroids. Verpine can communicate with each other through inaudible radio waves picked up through their antennae, and most Verpine criminals have damaged antennae.

Verpine are considered among the best mechanics in the galaxy, and a team of them helped Admiral Ackbar design the B-Wing starfighter. The Verpine tech Zraii, a native of Roche G42, served with the Alliance's famed Rogue Squadron. A serious incident between the Verpine and the Barabel occurred four years after the Battle of Endor, when a mad Verpine hive mother defaulted on several ship-building contracts for the Barabel. The Barabel began to make good on their threat to sell Verpine body parts to the insect-eating Kubaz, and New Republic forces were dispatched to the Roche system to help prevent a war. One year later the smuggler Talon Karrde had an employee bring an assault shuttle to the Roche system, so some Verpine acquaintances could investigate it for possible traps.

Utos System
A system in the Koornacht Cluster.

Galantos
The myriad stars of the Koornacht Cluster fill the night sky of Galantos as a blazing oval of light. The awstruck, Fia (the native species) revered the dazzling sight abd referred to it as the Multitude. But twelve years later the Fia became convinced that their beloved Multitude would be the source of their destruction.

Lying deep in the Farlax Secctor the planet keeps a low profile but is well known among planetary geologists for its terrain. Its rocky surface is dotted by pools of various sizes, from puddles to large seas. Thesedepressions hold pale-green organic gelatin, a substance that provides life-giving nutrients for every creature on the planet.

Bulbous Toli trees sink thier needle-roots beneath the pools' rubbery skin. Skree-skaters glide along the smooth surface on the hunt for small prey. The Fia have wide splayed bodies for navigating their undulating environment and were the first of Galantos's creatures to evolve sentience.

The surrounding wastelands provided metal and stone for the Fia to construct impressive cities. Since the largest gelatinous pools tended to roll and heave during strong storms, Fian dwellings were flexible, built with plenty of "give".

After the Yevethan's attacks Galantos and its relueved citizens returned to business as the latest members of the New Republic.

Kojash
It was the site of a former Morath mining operation. Twelve years after the Battle of Endor, the Yevetha brutally attacked and conquered as part of a series of raids that the Yevetha called the Great Purge.

New Brigia
Just within the borders of the Koornacht Cluster, the colony was once the site of a struggling chromite mining operation founded by a small group of Brigians about two years prior to the Battle of Yavin. In it's early years, New Brigia enjoyed rich hauls of chromite ore, and many eager buyers. Over time, however, the ore yeilds grew less profitable. Twelve years after the Battle of Endor, the enitre Brigian colony was ruthlessly elimated by the Yevethan military during the "Great Purge".

Pirol V
The planet was the former location of an Imperial factory farm, run largely by droids. Twelve years after the Battle of Endor, it was seized by the Yevethan military in the "Great Purge".

Zhina One of the primary Yevethan worlds. It is a member of the Duskhan League. It was the location of an Imperial repair yard code named Black XI. After the Battle of Endor, when the Empire desterted the planet, the Yevethan military was able to take control of a number of ships. The repair yard was later moved to a clandestine location.
