All activity on Barab I is strictly dictated by the cycles of itd sixty-hour-long rotation. Though the world is always murky, the intense heat and radiation thrown off by Barab's star drive every ambulatory creature underground during the day. Sessile, bulb-shaped plants, wrap themselves up in silvery reflective cocoons as pools of standing water evaporate into clouds of low-hanging steam. Late in the day, as the planet slowly spins toward shadow, the surface temperature drops and creatures of every imaginable size and shape slink from their sheltered caverns.
