IT'S A GREAT ADVENTURE - IT'S SCOUTING!
There are many more kinds of adventure - canoeing, sailing, rafting, lifesaving, skiing, camping, finding your way in the bush, photographing wild animals, recording your own songs, sending messages by secret code, operating a radio station, searching for gold, helping in emergency rescues. A Scout gets to do all kinds of exciting, interesting and enjoyable things.

But the greatest adventure of all is freindship. Belonging to a group of friends you can depend on. Sharing the fun of learning, growing strong and exploring the world.

YOUR PATROL
You'll share the challenge of Scouting with a small group of close friends - your Patrol. A Patrol is  a team. You help  each other, depend on each other and each have a say in decision making. One of your Patrol will be chosen as Leader (it could be you). The Patrol Leader organisers your meetings and takes part in council meetings with other  Leaders.

YOUR TROOP
When several patrols get together they form a troop. The Troop usually meets in the Scout Hall and is guided by a Scout Leader.

YOUR FIRST AWARD - THE PIONEER BADGE
The first important individual target you'll aim for is your Pioneer Badge. To earn it you can follow your choice of interesting hobbies, sports and activities, weekend camping, model aircraft, yachting or canoeing, first aid, swimming and lifesaving, art, hiking, conservation, bike hike, building with timber and concrete, sport and fitness.

THE EXPLORER BADGE
Now you can add these to your skills: cooking, hiking at night, building a flying fox, exploring the bush, helping in an emergency.

THE ADVENTURE BADGE
The highest level of achievement award involving: rescue, survival camp, navigating by sun and stars, building a suspension bridge, writing to a Scout pen pal.

THE CHALLENGE BADGES
A total of 15 challenge badges will offer you a challenge in a variety of fields of your own choice and provide an opportunity to pursue your hobbies.

Its a great feeling each time you win a new badge became other people will know of the skill you've mastered and the things you've achieved. The best part is - You'll Know It.
