BookCrossing.com is worldwide community of book lovers who read and release their books into the world for others to find and enjoy. These books can be tracked online on their journey around the world (or community). What Do We Do? Talk about books, exchange books, and gab. When Do We Meet? We meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Each month, you need to sign up at the BookCrossing Meet-Up site and vote for a meeting place. If you have questions, leave a message on the Mini-Board.

1. Edit Your Profile. Add information like who you are, what types of books you like, what you’ve read recently. Upload a picture of yourself or something that is important to you. 2. Register your books. Add any books that you can bear to part with. If you can’t bear to part with any, that’s okay. Your bookshelf will start to fill up when you start receiving books. Be sure to make a journal entry to let others know about the book and how it affected your life. 3. Upload Journal Entry Pictures. Add a picture of your hometown, a picture of the author, or a picture that illustrates your journal entry. 4. Edit Book Details. After your shelf gets fuller, you may want to go back into your journal entries and add symbols in front of book titles to help others to sort your bookshelf easier: @=available for trade, BR=book ring, TBR=to be read, etc. |

Surf the
BookCrossing website and familiarize yourself with all the various
components of BookCrossing. Here are just a few ways to use it to your
advantag 1. Release Books Around Town. Make a journal entry online, print labels to put inside, and make release notes. It’s often helpful to put a sticky note on the front that says “free book” so that the book doesn’t end up in lost-and-found. 2. Exchange Books at Local Meetups. Don’t forget to sign up for a Meetup each month and bring books to exchange at the Meet-Up Website. 3. Go Hunting for Books Around Tulsa. Find out what books are still “in the wild” and go on a scavenger hunt. 4. Use the book box at Tulsa's Official BookCrossing Zone. Exchange books at the Internet Café at 61st & Memorial.

BookRing: Want to share a great book but don’t want to part with it forever? Set up a BookRing to go “around the world” and come back to you by setting up an ordered list of the screen names of the people set to receive the book (ending with yours). Click here to see an example of how to set up a BookRing. BookRay: If you want to keep the book moving onward and away from you for infinity, set the book up as a BookRay instead. BookBox: Send out a box of books. Each person in the ring will take as many books as they want, but they have to put that many in the box. When the box gets back to you, you should have an entirely new box of books to add to your collection. Method #1:
Method #2: If you have a book that a lot of people have wished for on the BookCrossing WishList, send a PM to the people who would like to read it. |
