1987 spruce, wolf tail, ivory, hardwood. from the collection of the alaska native medical center, women's auxiliary. photo by jimmie froehlich. this is the story of a shaman who murdered a witch doctor in order to steal her powers, but her powers were too strong even after death. he went mad and the woman's vision of the spirit world was useless to him.
