Dr. John Haggai's Viewpoint

"World Christian leaders, visiting the West, remark about the absence of prayer in our services. The Late Bishop Chandu Ray of Pakistan and Dr. Ernest H. Watson of Australia said. "We rarely hear prayer offered for anyone outside America except where American interests are involved."

Is it not true that we ( in the Western Church, at least) rarely get serious in prayer unless a loved one is hovering between life and death, or a crisis defies our ability?

When we rely on market share, we get what market share can do.

When we rely on sophisticated programming, we get what sophisticated programming can do. When we rely upon organization, we get what organization can do.

But when we rely on prayer, we get what God can do!

The reason many of us do not pray derives from our idea that we are strong. Our idea expresses itself in the "I can do it " slogan. No, He can do it-through us.

The basis of prayer is man's need and God's ability to meet that need.

When one really prays, he is confessing his utter helplessness.

He is casting himself wholly and completely upon God.

He is delighting himself in the Lord.

Consequently, the Lord grants unto him the desires of his heart.

Do not put your faith in the act of praying but in the God Who answers prayer.

Spend less time reading and listening to the news.

Set aside more time for prayer.

Turbo-charge your life with the purpose and vitality the Lord gives in answer to prayer.
